Words of Wisdom with Paralympic Coach Ryan Allen

“Continual learning and supportive relationships”

Today we chat with New Brunswick Coach Ryan Allen, recently named as one of the 2021 Konica Minolta Sport Award “Coach of the Year”. Ryan attended the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics with Team Canada Coaching Staff in Paraswimming, alongside NB Paraswimmer Danielle Dorris, who won a gold medal and set a world record in the 50 m butterfly, and won a silver in the 100 m backstroke. Ryan has coached all across Atlantic Canada at different levels, and shares with us his coaching journey, what his Tokyo preparations looked like, and what all coaches today should remember when building supportive learning environments.
